Parent Involvement
Parents and Children's Day Montessori form a partnership to provide a nurturing living and learning environment. As a non-profit organization run by a volunteer Board of Directors, parental involvement is essential to Children's Day. Not only does it allow the parents to have a more active role in their child's educational life, but it gives the children a chance to see first-hand the value adults place on being active, involved members of our educational community. Parents are invited and encouraged to participate in activities such as parent meetings, field trips, school celebrations, classroom observation, sharing special talents or interests, and volunteer opportunities in such areas as classroom help, fundraising, building and grounds maintenance, etc. Helping children learn to function as responsible community members is a fundamental aspect of Montessori education, and both the staff and the Board of Directors feel that it is important that this principle be modeled by all members of the school community.
