A Typical Day
Children's Day Montessori
7:30 am (7am option for a nominal fee) - 8:00am Children arrive at various times according to schedules of their parents. Children arriving before 8:00 a.m. go to our child care room and may choose to read books, play games, or do artwork.
8:00 am - 12:00 pm Children go into their Montessori communities. During this time, children are encouraged to concentrate on their works; they will make choices regarding which works to do, when to have snack, etc. The teachers provide assistance and guidance to each child as needed, as well taking time to observe the children at their work. During this morning work period, each class has a Line Time, providing the children the opportunity for large body movement, singing songs, reading books and poetry and other activities.
12:00 pm This is our first pick up time for parents.
12:15 - 1:00 p.m. Children, who stay past noon, have lunches brought from home.
1:00 -2:30 pm Three and some 4-year olds go to the napping room to rest their bodies. Four, 5 and 6-year olds have an Extended Montessori experience that allows them to continue their works, provides a more in-depth learning time for kindergarten, and near kindergarten-aged children; focuses on various academic subjects -- such as vocabulary/language arts, mathematics, or geography.
2:30 pm This is our second pick up time for parents.
2:30 pm-3:00 pm Children remaining for Extended Care have a final Line Time while napping children are waking up.
3:00 pm-5:30 pm (with a 6pm option for a nominal fee) The children go into our child care room and have snack, play games, go outside and do art projects. This is our last pick up time for parents.
